Lifesaving 1,2&3 Test

Argh. The lifesaving test will be held on 2th June 2007 at the ACJC Sports Complex. This test will mark an integral point of my journey in AC Lifeguards. It will determine whwther I become a qualified lifeguard and it marks the effort I have put in for the past 6 months.

Choir Concert-An evening with Friends

I have just returned home form the choir concert by our college's world renowned choir, their beautiful music soothes our tired ears and the powerful lyrics brings across many underlying messages.

I look foward to such quality performances by the college's Performing Arts Groups.

Attached is the photo taken with my friends and classmates.

Term Exam Blues

The Term Exams which starts on 26 June 2007 is overly taxing on us, students as we have to balance academic and co cirricular committment to prepare half a year work in merely a month.

However the exams are not without its benefits, it strengthen us mentally and psychologically to meet the challenges of this ever changing world.

A little taste of success....

Although life in ACJC isn't always smooth sailing, I have a taste of victory when I did relatively well for my Chemistry test. I have finally realised god's purpose for me in ACJC is to touch and change lives as well as to excel in all my pursuit to glorify his name.

I will continue to do well through perseverance with tenancity and passion to serve my school.

To god be the glory. The Best is Yet to Be

ACJC

It is by god's grace that I could continue my education in this school. I must say that I have really loved my time in ACJC for the past 4 months, I haved lived life to the fullest and contributed in every field that I could. I have a fantastic school, CCA and class.

Although ACJC is a wonderful college, the physical facilities seriously needs improvement to continue giving students a high quality of education. The ageing classrooms and LT needs refurbishments to ensure that the amenities keep up with changing times. Students should realise that they need to pay a price for the improvement of the school and they should play an active part in raising funds for the newly built CPA.

An eventful week and evaluation on the Singapore Education System

This week has come and gone very quickly, it was filled with test and assignment. The horrible Chemistry lecturer gave us only 25 mins for a test that will have lasted 40 mins.

I will have to submit my Preliminary Idea for PW next week.

A levels School-Based Practical Assesment (SPA) will commence the following week.

The Singapore education system is one that train top talents. However, an over emphasis on efficency and rigidness has led to students and teachers behaving like robots living a monotonous lifestyle.

Students are highly encouraged to embark on rote learning and to rember textbooks, failure to churn out the required information will lead them to be labelled as failure. This has led to many students going through this rigourous education without having a creative mind of their own.
Isn't this similar to China and India's practice of producing millions of engineers using this giant ''brain factory''. Are these skilled workers euipped with the necessary skills to lead their country in the future?

In addition to the NUS High School of Maths and Sciences, Shouldn't the government set up a Specialised School for the Humanities and the Arts. We need creative people for the betterment of our future not just economically valuable engineers and technician.

Life

The past 1 month has been like a single second to me. Things are moving at an astonomical rate therefore I am unable to blog for nearly a month.

Altough it feels great being an ACJC student, the workload is simply crazy. Having to study for my H2 Chemistry test within a week and do the PW Preliminary Idea in 2 weeks.

It may seem glamourous about being elected as a Class Rep.But I can tell you, IT IS NOT that great a job after all, you will have to sacrifice your personal time to handle some simple administrative stuff. You have to labouriously ensure that everyone sits together during assembly and transmit the teacher's message to the whole class.

However, I enjoy serving the class and contributing part of my time for a greater cause. If that doesn't suit you, Give up the idea of being a class rep.

Being a boy from ACS Barker Road also mean that much is expected from me both academically and astheically.

I only have time for all these today.

My New Start in ACJC

Yay. With God's grace, I am accepted back into ACJC.It's also the efforts of all my teachers.

It marks a new beginning in this chapter of my life. The life in a Junior College is both exciting and challenging. I have to learn to be independent.

I hope to excel academically and in my CCA therefore I would put my heart , mind and soul into serving the college when the school reopens after the short break.

Reunion Dinner

This year's reunion dinner was similar to the previous year's as we had it at Shang Palace. The only difference is that we celebrated Reunion 1 week earlier.

The 10 course Chinese dinner was great, it featured dishes like Lobster Yu Sheng,Roast Duck, Sea Cucumber, Herbal Turkey and Lingzhi Pudding.

As we were given a private dinning room, we had lots of privacy and we engaged in a lengthy conversation till 11pm without realising it.

The tossing of Yu Sheng is the main focus of the dinner as the tossing symbolises good luck and prosperity for the new year.

The Last Week

The week was a busy one which was filled with many activities.

On Tuesday my CCA ended in the evening and I did not get home till 9 pm as I had dinner with my CCA mates.

On Thursday, I went to the National Library to meet up with friends and my teacher from TLL. We had dinner in an Italian Restraunt at Shaw Centre. I had Chicken penne for dinner. Altough the food wasn't perfect, the experience of meeting up with different people from the class was unforgettable. I would like to thank Miss Ng for making this dinner possible.

We had CNY celebrations at ACJC on Friday, the atmosphere was lively and everyone had a great time. After the celebrations ended, Daniel,Roy,Reldon and myself headed for ACS BARKER. I met Mr Chia, my form teacher for 4A3 and Mrs AW, my English teacher. We joined the Lower secondary students for the CNY concert which was equally entertaining as the one held at ACJC.

Awaiting the O levels Results

Next week I will be receiving the O levels results. This is the moment of joy, sadness and excitement for various different students. Some stutudent can make it to the institution of their choice while others could not. That's part of growing up and we have to accept things as they are.

For myself, I really hope that I could make it to Anglo Chinese Junior College as it is the place that made me feel the warmth of people around me. It is a Methodist institution strongly rooted in Christian Values and it gives everyone a chance to experience an all rounded education.

4th Week in the college

It has been four weeks since I was admitted into ACJC. It has been my privilege to be able to enter ACJC. Nevertheless, the transition from Secondary school to ACJC seemed like a cultural shock to me. However, the familar Anglo Chinese Crest, symbol and song stays close to my heart and comforts me. The new school environment is filled with students from very different schools ranging from River Valley High to Raffles Institution.

Every student in the college is bonded by the AC spirit which is being instilled into them when the enter the college. The differences between students from different secondary school is quickly cast aside as they intereact and eventually become friends.

The students from different schools bring the very best from their secondary school and contribute towards making the college a better environment that is conducive for learning.

What I like about ACJC??

ACJC is truly a college that embraces all it students, no matter who they are. Every students forms a vital part of the school and is expected to give of their best in all that they do. Emphasis is placed on all rounded development of every student to mould students into leaders of tomorrow.
